Small fixture & hardware installs in Vancouver, WA

Towel bars, bath accessories, vent covers, and door hardware can be assessed for replacement or installation. Faucets, toilets, lights, and fans require separate scope and licensed trade assessment.

For a small hardware install, the first questions are what is being replaced, what it fastens to, and whether the surrounding surface is sound. Existing holes, missing backing, tile, and damaged drywall can make a simple replacement a larger job. Share the item and its intended location before buying parts.

Washington general contractor registration does not authorize licensed electrical or plumbing work, and a like-for-like replacement is not automatically exempt from permit or trade requirements.

Planning fixtures & small installs

What small installs can I ask about?

Towel bars, toilet-paper holders, other bath accessories, vent covers, and door hardware are good starting points. Describe the product, mounting surface, existing damage, and whether it is a replacement or a new location so the work can be assessed.

Can I request a faucet, toilet, light, or ceiling fan replacement?

You can request a scope assessment, but this service page does not promise electrical or plumbing installation. The specific work, jurisdiction, permit requirements, and trade credentials must be checked. Work requiring a licensed electrician or plumber is referred to the appropriate trade.

Is a like-for-like fixture replacement always permit-free?

No blanket exemption is assumed. Keeping a fixture in the same place does not establish who may perform the work or whether a permit is needed. Those questions must be resolved for the specific job before installation is accepted.

Can you use hardware I already purchased?

Customer-supplied materials are welcome, subject to fit and suitability. Keep the model information and instructions available. The mounting pattern, fasteners, wall condition, and any missing parts should be reviewed before the appointment.

What if the old mounting holes are loose or the wall is damaged?

The attachment needs assessment before the new hardware is fitted. Backing, a different mounting position, or a drywall or trim repair may be needed. A cosmetic accessory and a safety support such as a grab bar require different attachment planning.

How do quotes for small installs work?

Use Get a free quote to provide the work type, location, contact information, and timing. Have the product details and photos ready for follow-up. General handyman work is a $95 trip fee plus $75 an hour; larger repair scopes get a written quote. Licensed trade work is assessed separately rather than included in a handyman installation promise.
