Scope

Registration has boundaries.

L&I classifies general construction contractors separately from licensed electrical and plumbing contractors. General construction contractor registration alone does not authorize work requiring those trade licenses.

Our published handyman services include door repairs, drywall patching, finish carpentry, shelving, cabinet installation, tile, stairs, exterior repairs, mounting, and punch lists. Each request still needs assessment for the actual work, applicable permits, and any specialist requirements.

Electrical or plumbing work requiring a licensed trade must be handled by an appropriately licensed contractor. This page does not establish those licenses for Expand Handyman. We serve Washington only and do not accept Oregon jobs.

Review our services, Vancouver, WA coverage, and the pre-hire FAQ before sending your project list.

Bond & insurance

Confirm coverage for your job.

L&I’s live record contains separate bond and insurance entries. The registration’s September 24, 2028 expiration does not establish that a bond or insurance policy remains active through that date.

Before hiring, review the live bond and insurance entries and request current insurance documentation. Confirm the policy dates, limits, exclusions, and whether the planned work is covered with the insurer. Registration and an insurance listing do not establish coverage for every task or location.

Use L&I’s verification guidance to check current registration, bond, insurance, and other available records. Project terms are confirmed in the applicable written agreement; see our Terms of Use.
